Cyberpunk 2077 now faces one massive lawsuit

Cyberpunk 2077 faces lawsuit

To say that Cyberpunk 2077‘s launch last year had issues is putting things politely.

When the game finally landed after multiple delays, players and reviewers kicked it up and down the street for being a bug-ridden hot mess. The game was in such bad shape that Sony pulled it from its online store.

This prompted several investors — who were understandably angry with CD Projekt Red at the state of the game at launch — to launch a lot of class-action lawsuits against the developer. There is so much litigation facing CD Projekt that the developer has now announced that a US court has rolled four of these lawsuits into one.

“The Management Board of the Company hereby informs that, according to information obtained from a law firm cooperating with the Company, the court has consolidated the lawsuits and appointed a lead plaintiff. Following this consolidation, all four lawsuits will be subject to potential common court proceedings,” the developer said on its blog.

The investors claim that they were misled about the state of Cyberpunk 2077 ahead of launch and its performance on consoles, which in turn, caused them to incur losses. In a regulatory filing back in January, CD Projekt vowed to “undertake vigorous action to defend itself against any such claims.”
