Resident Evil anime series gets Netflix release date

Resident Evil Infinite Darkness

Resident Evil is pretty hot property right now.

In the last month, players saw the release of Resident Evil Village, which scared the bejesus out of players and sold oodles of copies, continuing the franchise’s hot-streak established by Resident Evil 7: BioHazard back in 2017.

Now, Capcom’s survival horror IP is coming to Netflix in the form of Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness and it has a release date – 8th July 2021.

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness

Yes, yes, we know that Capcom’s survival horror series hasn’t really had the illustrious transferal from the game to the silver screen in the past – although the films starring Milla Jovovich do have a substantial following.

But Infinite Darkness looks like a different proposition altogether. For a start, it’s an anime TV series. Second, rather than look to Hollywood star power to carry the can, the makers are bringing the voice talents of Nick Apostolides and Stephanie Panisello who will reprise their roles of Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield from the remake of the second instalment in this series.

The series is set shortly after the fourth entry in the series – players will remember the seas change that was – but before the events in Resident Evil 6, which means Wesker may make an appearance.

In the meantime – ahead of release – there’s a rather decent trailer you can clock your eyeballs at. Enjoy!

We live in the fervent hope that because this is a Netflix series, it’ll drop locally at the same time it does internationally. If not, well, there’s always the latest game you could check out.
