Huawei, while being predominately known for its Google-less handsets (whether they like that reputation or not), has been known to branch out into other realms of technology. Perhaps their most well-known venture is within its own take on wireless earbuds. The FreeBuds 4i is the latest iteration on Huawei’s design and from the sound of things (lol), these little buckaroos pack a rather satisfying punch.
According to the press release sent out by Huawei this morning, the FreeBuds 4i come packed with a wide range of cool features that you’d expect to find in a set like these. We’re talking Active Noise Cancellation, Awareness Mode (that filters in some ambient sound) and “built-in acoustic components and algorithms to generate inverted soundwaves”. Sounds pretty fancy, but we’ll reserve judgement for when we actually get to test them out.
Huawei’s as Free as a Bud
“As a new kind of audio device, true wireless (TWS) headphones are a gateway to an easier lifestyle and a great way to improve a person’s productivity and quality of life. These headphones are ideal for listening to music or a podcast while out running errands or avoiding background noise like your dog barking during an important Zoom meeting,” reads the press release.
It’s worth pointing out that the FreeBuds 4i actually look pretty good. We’re a big fan of the longer design and the charging dock being a flatter orb would certainly make it more comfortable to slide into a pocket. Stuff will most likely get our grubby hands on a pair of the FreeBuds 4i in the near future, so you’ll be the first to know how good they sound.
The Huawei FreeBuds 4i is launching on 1 April alongside the Mate 40 Pro and will cost R1,500. If you preorder the FreeBuds 4i it’ll come with a free Huawei Mini Speaker, a protective case and a three-month Huawei Music VIP subscription which is all valued at a collective R978. Not too shabby.
