Just when you thought it was safe to go back onto the internet, Samsung just announced a brand new Unpacked event — called Galaxy Awesome Unpacked, because it’s supposed to revolve around a whole set of the company’s Galaxy A series handsets.
Which, if you saw the launch video for the Galaxy A51 and A71 in 2020 compared to the short invitation clip, makes a little sense. But there’s also been a few rumours around the event itself.
A is for Awesome
Samsung’s second Unpacked for 2021 will probably entail the Galaxy A series — an odd move, because that’s the company’s midrange handset lineup. But since it sells more than the South Korean giant’s flagship devices (and Samsung’s keen to position the range as a premium alternative), a dedicated Unpacked makes a sort of sense.
We’re expecting the Galaxy A52 and the A72 to be announced at Galaxy Awesome Unpacked. The handsets are rumoured to feature 90Hz displays, which is a big deal for an afforda-phone — it’s also possible that the Galaxy A52 5G will feature a 120Hz display. There will be both LTE and 5G versions of both handsets, according to reports.
The Galaxy A52 is supposed to feature a Snapdragon 750G chipset, a 6.5in OLED display, a 4,500mAh battery and support for 25W fast charging. Cameras might include a 64MP main sensor, along with 12MP (ultrawide) and dual 5MP sensors (macro and depth-sensing) — but that’s just a rumour at this point.
