Right now, working remotely is the norm. Thanks to the pandemic, many businesses have chosen to go (and remain) online in the face of the pandemic. Fortunately, there’s a slew of great apps and bits of software that make working online easier and more convenient, even for those of us who are slightly technologically challenged.
One such piece of digital gear is Google Drive, which is incredibly useful for storing, sharing, and managing files via cloud storage. A key feature of Drive is the ability to share files. Now, Google has updated Google Drive to make sharing files even more secure.
For your eyes only
Before, admins within a business’ Google Drive could let workers link-share files to either anyone with a link in Google Drive, or to anyone within their business’ domain. However, links could potentially be shared with people outside of the organisation, compromising its security.
This new update to Google Drive, available to paid Google Workspace users, allows admins to specify groups of people that workers can link-share their organisations’ Drive files. This decreases the risk of Drive files falling into the wrong hands. It also makes it easier to send files to only the right people by specifying which department or group within your organization they’re intended for.
Being able to quickly and easily share information within your organisation is key to it running like a well-oiled machine, and Google Drive is a great tool for just that. This new update makes it even better.
