Former MMA star-turned movie action heroine, Gina Carano, has been fired from the Star Wars Disney + series The Mandalorian, for making “abhorrent and unacceptable” posts on social media.
According to a report on The Guardian, Lucasfilm decided to sever ties with Carano, after the actress (known for her roles in Deadpool, Haywire and Fast & Furious 6), compared the treatment of Republicans in the USA in contemporary times, to that of Jewish people in Nazi Germany.

In a (now-deleted) Instagram post, Carano wrote: “Jews were beaten in the streets, not by Nazi soldiers but by their neighbours … even by children … Because history is edited, most people today don’t realise that to get to the point where Nazi soldiers could easily round up thousands of Jews, the government first made their own neighbours hate them simply for being Jews. How is that any different from hating someone for their political views.”
“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” Lucasfilm said in a statement. “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
Fans have reportedly been calling for Carano’s head for some time now, given the fact that she’s used social media to not only openly mock people for wearing face-masks during the COVID-19 pandemic and make fun of people who ask that their preferred pronoun be used, but also positing conspiracy theories about the 2020 US Presidential Election being rigged.
It seems this last episode was just too much for the House Of Mouse. Here’s hoping Baby Yoda doesn’t turn out to be a QAnon fan.
