After a few months of absolutely zero iPhone news in South Africa, retailers are finally confirming that Apple’s newest lineup of iPhones will hit South Africa just in time for the festive season. Cellular City posted a sneaky tweet about it a week ago, and today Vodacom has officially announced that the iPhone 12 range is coming… on 18 December.
“Vodacom is excited to soon offer the eagerly anticipated new iPhone 12 family, including iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, iPhone 12, and iPhone 12 mini,” Vodacom said in a statement.
You phoned for an iPhone 12?
We won’t just get the initial bunch of iPhone 12s, we’ll also get the iPhone 12 Pro Max and the iPhone 12 Mini from Vodacom stores in South Africa. Following the announcement of the devices, it was clear that the 12 Mini could be the perfect device for many South Africans who cannot afford the full-sized flagship variants. It’s good to see Vodacom bring the whole lineup to town. Even the likely-to-be-prohibitively-expensive 12 Pro Max.
“With a beautiful all-new design, iPhone 12 family models feature unparalleled new camera systems, edge-to-edge Super Retina XDR displays for a more immersive viewing experience, the biggest jump in durability with the Ceramic Shield front cover, and Apple-designed A14 Bionic chip, the fastest chip in a smartphone,” Vodacom said.
If you’re interested in an iPhone 12, you’ll be happy to know that pre-orders open a week before the 18 December launch, on 11 December. Better hope your existing Vodacom contract is due for upgrade soon. We reached out to Vodacom about pricing for the new devices, and will update once we have it.
