Feast your eyes on Asus’ new laptop lineup

Today, Asus announced its new range of laptops, including new Zephyrus and Strix gaming machines, an updated TUF laptop and a new StudioBook and VivoBook S. 

“With this launch, we moved away from our normal practice of individual product drops. ASUS creates exceptional machines that are diligently designed with specific users in mind,” says Juan Mouton, the country marketing manager for ASUS.  

Interestingly, the brand announced more in the gaming segment than business machines. Asus’ Republic of Gamers brand has brought some great gaming gear into the world before, and we’re keen to test every single one of these. 

ROG Zephyrus G14

A follow-up for the previous Zephyrus model, this one looks to carry the Zephyrus name well. The range is well-know for pushing boundaries for gaming notebooks, and this one looks absolutely beautiful. 

Sizing in at just 14in, this compact boi is powered by an 8-Core AMD Ryzen 9 4900HS CPU and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card. What’s most intriguing, though, is Asus’ move away from traditional ROG gaming colours, into a more subtle vibe. It comes in two colours: black and white, and has cool-looking LED cover panels? We’re not quite sure what they are, but we’ll report back after we get our review unit. 

ROG Scar Strix III (G732)

Okay, this one’s the gaming machine. And that’s very obvious. But we all know and love the Strix range for its power and cool looks. Here we have the new and improved Scar Strix III. And naturally, it comes in two sizes: 15in and 17in. 

The bigger sibling, sizing in at 17.3in features a 300Hz gaming display, and can be powered with up to a GeForce RTX 2080 Super GPU at a full 150W. You can also customise it with up to a 10th Gen Intel processor, up to a Core i9 thanks to something Asus calls ‘exotic liquid metal thermal compound coats’.  Yes, those are totally standard issue. 

Asus TUF Gaming A15

This is a cool one, because it’s a new device in Asus’ mid-range TUF gaming laptop lineup. The TUF Gaming A15 is priced under R20k, which makes it an ideal entry gaming machine, while sporting impressive internals. 

The TUF Gaming A15  can be fitted with up to an 8-Core AMD Ryzen 4000 series CPU and a GeForce RTX 2060 discrete GPU. Honestly, we don’t know how Asus managed to pump all that power into a machine that costs less than a new iPhone. And, it looks good too. 

ProArt StudioBook Pro 17

For something less… gaming-focused, the ProArt lineup feature impressive specs packed into a tiny chassis. All of these feature Intel Core i7 CPUs and Nvidia Quadro RTX or GeForce RTX graphics, depending on what you need. They’ve also got PCIe SSD drives. 

All of ‘em also have near bezel-less ‘NanoEdge’ design, with a 17-inch display fitting into a slim 15-inch chassis. We don’t know how physicists feel about it, but apparently it has been done here, folks. They’ve also got Pantone Validation for all of those design peeps out there, with a 60Hz refresh rate.

VivoBook S

Last, but not least, the VivoBook is back. Asus’ pride and joy when you look at the mid-range market, the VivoBook range always feature bright colours and small form factors. And that’s exactly what you’re getting here. 

In terms of specs, you can expect an AMD Ryzen R7 processor or a 10th-gen Intel Core i7 CPU, and of course, it comes in every colour you can think of right now.
