Party like it’s 1999 – Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 are back, remastered as a bundle this September

The world isn’t a very nice place to inhabit at the moment. It’s times like this that we should think back to the good times and Activision has made that a little easier by announcing a remastered Tony Hawk bundle for launch later this year.

The bundle consists of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2, suitably tweaked and upgraded for modern consoles. Oh yeah, you can get your grind on on PC (via the Epic Store), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One from 4 September this year, with all of the classic runs and gameplay modes. Only this time the visuals have been bumped up to 4K.

Taking the gap

Everything you might remember from the original games (if you’re old enough) will be present. The levels, the skaters, the tricks and special moves. But the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 bundle also includes new features — extra challenges, new online multiplayer and an improved skate park editor. Best of all most (sadly not all) of the original soundtrack will be included.

It’s not the first time that the original Tony Hawk was re-released — the last arrived on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 a few years back — but this looks to be a much more substantial overhaul. The work has been done by Vicarious Visions, the company responsible for the recent Crash Bandicoot trilogy remaster — which makes us wonder… why the heck didn’t Activision opt to redo THPS 3 as well?

We’re obviously madly keen for this bundle to drop but if Activision’s got a few other nostalgia projects in mind, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and Tony Hawk’s Underground are obvious choices. In the meantime, a pre-order of the current remaster will give you early access to the Warehouse level a little later this year — in case you really, really don’t want to wait to get your skate on again.
