Mr D can deliver food to you from tomorrow 1 May during Level 4 lockdown

OneDayOnly

Oh, how we’ve waited for this. The homemade burgers and chips lack a certain… mass-produced quality and we’re sick of it! Now that the country has received more detailed guidelines for the next level of lockdown, Level 4, we’ve got some good news for restaurants and people who don’t want to cook anymore.

The food delivery service, Mr D Food announced today that the service will open to restaurant food deliveries from Friday 1 May. “Following the announcement made last night, Mr D Food can confirm that they will resume full operation from tomorrow. Restaurants will be able to return to Mr D Food along with safe, contactless delivery and financial support. This means customers can stay home, stay safe and still support much loved local hot spots,” the company states in an email.

It will focus on practicing social distancing and implementing hygienic measures when handling food and payments. It will continue the delivery of groceries from convenience stores and medication from Checkers MediRite along with food deliveries.

Mr D has also announced an initiative to help restaurants start up after a rough lockdown month. “As a first step, we are introducing a commission relief scheme which reduces the commission rates for the vast majority of our restaurant partners. We have also allocated marketing funds to drive promotional initiatives to generate orders and revenue for neighbourhood restaurants. Lastly, we will be launching a new feature in the Mr D Food app that will allow customers to support their favourite restaurants, by making a COVID-19 contribution directly to the restaurant when placing a delivery order,” reads the statement.

Sometimes the real superheroes are the ones you least expect to be, and we’re sure South Africa is elated at the prospect of having cooked food delivered to their homes.
