Drones can be super cool when they’re not making a mind-vibrating racket and or potentially holding up entire airports. While it’s never been easier to get your hands on a decent drone, the best in the business will set you back a bit of cash but the greater investment speaks for itself. In the case of DJI, one of the top drone production companies, they’re gearing up to blow the world away with the Mavic Air 2, if reports are to be believed.
Reported by The Verge, DJI has teased an announcement to take place on 27 April, 2020. It’s a sneaky little trailer which doesn’t give much away but DroneDJ seems to believe it to be the Mavic Air 2. Photos of the drone and the device’s quick start manual we apparently leaked by Anatel, Brazil’s telecommunications supervisor. The images supplied to Anatel…well, they couldn’t really be more obvious.
As you can see, they literally have the name Mavic Air 2 etched onto one of the legs. A close-up of the drone’s power source also indicates that it will feature a 3,500 mAh battery, a huge jump from the original Mavic Air’s 2,375 mAh battery. After translating the starter manual, DroneDJ claims that the Mavic Air 2 will feature a 48 MP camera, 4K recording compatibility, speeds of 68.4 km/h and a flight time of 34 minutes . Which…sounds monumentally powerful.
While it’s still not 100% guaranteed that the Mavic Air 2 is real, the leak is thorough enough to make us fairly confident that it’s accurate. One would like to assume that DJI would take one of the the best drones to the next level with the sequel but we suppose only time will tell how the Mavic Air 2 holds up.
