Apple’s all about the high-end, usually. There have been two notable exceptions: the Apple iPhone 5c and the iPhone SE, which were still on sale until fairly recently. A new version of the iPhone SE might be on its way, according to info from 9to5Mac, as well as Apple’s own online store.
Now SE here
9to5Mac reports that Apple’s iPhone SE is coming back. Originally rumoured to take the iPhone 9 name (since Apple skipped the naming convention to go right to the X), the Apple-focused website claims that plain old ‘SE’ is what we’re getting.
The design will reportedly be similar to that of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 8, offering users a 4.7in device using the older form factor — in keeping with SE tradition, given that the original was an iPhone 6 in an iPhone 5s frame. How do we know this? A Belkin screen protector on Apple’s own website seems to have spilt the beans.
The colour and the shape
The iPhone SE is likely to feature the internals from an older model iPhone — something along the lines of an iPhone 8, but with a few modern enhancements. That’s not confirmed, though. What is (supposedly) known are the colour and storage options for the handset.
The SE will launch in black, white, and Apple’s Product (RED), with 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage options. That’s not official, because it’s never official until someone says it on an Apple-owned stage, but given the source, the information’s likely to accurate. As for the official reveal, it could come as soon as this month. We’ll keep you posted.
