The Last of Us Part II release date and Collector’s Editions announced

If there’s one fictional character we can’t wait to see again, it’s Ellie, the rough, tough little zombie-hunter from The Last of Us which debuted in 2013. After just about six years, we’ll get a sequel dubbed The Last of Us Part II in February 2020.

During Sony’s State of Play Livestream this week, it revealed a new story trailer, which shows off some new and returning characters. We also got a first look at some of the Collector’s Editions that will be available at launch.

The Last of Us Part II will launch on 21 February 2020. Yes, we all would’ve liked to see Ellie and the gang in 2019, but all good things come to those who wait… Or something like that. At the very least we got a new story trailer to get us amped — a trailer that details even more about Ellie’s post-apocalyptic fate. Have a look below.

Naughty Dog also announced very impressive Collector’s Editions of the game. The base Collector’s edition includes a 12in Ellie statue, a life-sized replica of Ellie’s bracelet, a custom SteelBook case, a 48-page mini art book from Dark Horse, a set of six enamel pins, a lithograph art print and five stickers. All accompanied by the game, obvs.

Then there’s the Ellie Edition that includes everything from the Collector’s pack, plus a fully functional replica of Ellie’s backpack, an embroidered patch, and a 7in vinyl record. The base Collector’s pack will cost $170 (R2,550, converted) while the Ellie pack will cost $230 (R3,450, converted).
