If it’s one thing a Star Wars fan love more than scale models of Star Wars tech it’s life-sized models of Star Wars tech. So British lunatic Colin Furze’s recreation of Kylo Ren’s TIE Silencer has absolutely caught our attention, even if Colin’s neglected to attach any working lasers to the thing.
Colin Furze is known for building weird and possibly lethal contraptions in his back yard but the TIE Silencer, which was based off a scale model that he bought online, was a little too large to fit in a residential area. It had to be built elsewhere and transported to the site where the video (below) was filmed. He’s done a decent enough job of it too, considering that he sourced all of the components for the build from eBay (his sponsor for the project). We suspect that Disney may have had a hand in it as well.
For a deeper look at how Kylo Ren’s TIE Silencer was built, book out a solid 15 minutes and hit up this video where Colin breaks down what went in to making a life-sized marketing stunt. Hey, Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens this weekend — we know how this works, Disney.
Now given Furze’s propensity to put rockets into things or his taste for just generally blowing things up, we’re kinda hoping that he attempts to drop some kind of engine in this one. It’ll never fly, we know, but a fan can dream, right?
