The FIFA Football World Cup has been decided and Germany is the winner on several counts. Yes, they took the final against Argentina and yes they trounced Brazil before that but the Germany vs Brazil game, which saw the Germans take down the World Cup hosts 7-1, also become the most tweeted sports game on record for Twitter.
According to the TwitterData Twitter account, there were more than 35.6 million tweets related to the Brazil vs. Germany game sent during the match. This even beat out the World Cup final against Argentina, which saw 32.1 million tweets during the match. But then, online commentators didn’t have such a massive score difference to talk about during the final.

The final was good for something besides awarding the cup to Germany, at least in Twitter terms. Setting yet another Twitter record was Germany’s FIFA Football World Cup final win, which prompted more than 618,000 tweets per minute discussing the game.
And you thought we wouldn’t be able to tie in the final with technology…
