One of the largest and most popular game franchises in the world, second only to Nintendo’s iconic red-clad plumber in terms of total sales numbers (as of 2012), is the Pokémon series of video games so that should justify that the game series is getting its own “…live orchestral concert tour”, which is kicking off in the States in August this year.
The event, called Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions, will first happen on 15 August in Washington DC and will be used to launch the 2014 Pokémon World Championships which starts in the same city the following day. According to the organisers Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions will feature music from the game’s history, which stretches back almost two decades.
From the Washington concert, the Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions concert will be moving over to Philadelphia on 19 September. If you happen to be in the region for either concert, it might be worth checking out the new musical arrangements of some video game tracks.
