Bethesda Softworks, the home of the Fallout and Elder Scrolls game franchises, has something new on the way with a newly announced title from BattleCry Studios called, oddly enough, Battlecry. Though the announcement trailer above doesn’t give away any of the gameplay (that has to wait until this year’s E3 event), it does give you some idea of what the setting and gameplay will be like.
Battlecry will take place in a post-apocalyptic world, one designed by Viktor Antonov – who was responsible for the designs of sections of Half-Life 2 and much of Dishonored – and will see up to 32 players taking to the field with a variety of melee and ranged weaponry. Nothing ballistic though, gunpowder doesn’t exist in Battlecry‘s universe but pitting two teams against each other in WarZones, apparently, is. Nothing like a beheading to solve your differences.
The soonest that we can expect this one is 2015, when the beta testing will start on the PC, but we should get a look at actual gameplay in a week or so. Though the steampunk-ish setting and concept looks cool, we’re reserving judgement until we see some real gameplay on our screens.
