We’ve posted a fair amount about Google’s Project Ara and so far we have to admit that the project is looking promising. So we are excited to hear that Google is planning to release its modular smartphone in January next year.
Buyers will, according to reports, be able to customise their phones from the get go with a configuration tool and will the ability to choose which modules to include in the phone, their choice of colour schemes as well as 3D-printed textured surfaces.
The project is not only aimed at giving customers the phone they want, but also a smartphone that will be able to last many years, instead of the one to two years we’ve come to expect from modern smartphone releases.
No word out yet on price or availability, but we will be sure to keep you in the loop.
