Elon Musk has conquered space with SpaceX, (portions of) the internet with PayPal and is increasing momentum on the electric car front with Tesla Motors but the South African-born businessman and entrepreneur isn’t done yet. According to Musk’s Twitter profile he will be revealing details of Hyperloop in August, which he describes as a fifth form of transportation.
The four main forms of transportation are road, rail, air or ocean-based but the fifth variety, Hyperloop, has been described by Musk as being a “a cross between a Concorde, a rail gun, and an air hockey table”. The description prompts some colourful mental imagery but doesn’t really do much to explain what Hyperloop will be about.
Will publish Hyperloop alpha design by Aug 12. Critical feedback for improvements would be much appreciated.

The transport system will apparently be able to ferry passengers from Los Angeles to San Francisco, a distance of some 611 kilometers, in around 30 minutes. Stuff will update you once more information is known about the proposed technology but, given Elon Musk’d track record so far, Hyperloop’s concept alone should prove to be spectacular.
