Sony PlayStation 3 users have been reporting that the newest firmware update for the PlayStation 3 console, the 4.45 update, has been causing problems for users.
The problem was first noted on Sony’s PlayStation forums, and sees several models of PS3 console that have installed the update stalling on reboot, effectively ‘bricking’ the console. The problem seems to be related to the console’s hard drive and Sony has since pulled the 4.45 firmware update and are reported to be working on a fix.
Consoles that have been bricked don’t have a firm option for correcting the issue until Sony releases a new update, though the PlayStation forums have got a selection of possible fixes that may or may not work for those affected. However, for now, the best option seems to be to wait until Sony releases an official update.
