South Africa will soon have access to the Kinect for Windows SDK but this homebrewed virtual reality setup doesn’t even require it. Making use of a PC version of the best-selling The Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, a Kinect unit, one of Sony’s HMZ-T1 headsets, a TrackIR5 and TrackClip Pro and a few software tweaks Australian Chris Zaharia has demonstrated a complete home virtual reality setup.
Using the HMZ-T1 for in-game 3D, the TrackIR5 for head tracking and the Kinect for body tracking enterprising players can immerse themselves even deeper into Bethesda’s award-winning RPG. The video below demonstrates how the setup works and Zaharia has also published a step-by-step walkthrough for setting up the system yourself.
