Win one of Stuff’s cover models – We have two Sphero BB-8 robots up for grabs

We know, we know, we waited too long to give away a Stuff cover model. At least a couple of you are thinking that. But you can’t own people (that’s just creepy) and it’s a damned good thing too because we’d probably wind up with some terrible owners. Instead we’re giving away Stuff‘s December 2015 cover model, the Sphero BB-8 droid, courtesy of iStore. That’s as close as we’re comfortable getting to a people giveaway. And we’re actually giving away two BB-8 droids. So there.

Before we get onto the marketing speak, a little story about the BB-8. When it first arrived at the Stuff offices it disrupted all work for a full day. It also interrupted every meeting and office visitor for at least two weeks. And then it mysteriously went missing (coughTobycough) until it reappeared to star in a short video. Know what you’re getting yourself in for.

Oh and the BB-8 is valued at R2,800. Each. We need to mention that. Oh, and you can buy one here. On with the marketing!

Meet BB-8™ – the app-enabled Droid™ whose movements and personality are as authentic as they are advanced. Based on your interactions, BB-8 will show a range of expressions and perk up when you give voice commands. Watch your Droid explore autonomously, guide BB-8 yourself, or create and view holographic recordings. BB-8 is more than a toy – it’s your companion.

Terms and Conditions time. Think of this as the Jar-Jar section of the giveaway. Once you’re through this, the good stuff follows. As usual, the competition is only open to South African residents with an address in SA. If you won in the last couple of giveaways then you’re ineligible and if you’ve won a magazine prize in the last few months (the October, November, and December issues), you’re ineligible for a bit longer. And, if you work for Stuff Magazine in any way, shape or form, you’re also ineligible. Right then, on to the entry form. And remember, the winner will be announced on 15 December 2015, before The Force Awakens hits cinemas. Get your entries in before then.

Stuff South Africa's online editor and print assistant editor, Brett Venter has churned out more words on more titles than most journalists will in a career. He's kind of shy.
