The Wikipad gaming tablet, a prototype of which was shown off by Wikipad at CES this year, is edging closer to being a reality. The Wikipad was previously slated to be a 10.1″ tablet with 3D gaming functionality via twin analogue sticks and conventional game-controller buttons but the specs have been revealed for the first of the upcoming models.

The 10.1″ form factor remains but the 3D-capable screen has been swapped out for a 2D 1,280 x 800 IPS display. An NVidia Tegra 3 T30 quad-core 1.4GHz processor and 1GB of RAM will be standard, along with 16GB of storage. The Wikipad will be running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean but there is no word on which games will be available for the device.

The battery will be capable of supporting 6 hours of gaming or up to 8 hours of video playback. The button configuration that was previously seen has remained unchanged.

The launch date for the Wikipad has yet to be finalised.
