A company called Incident Tech is teasing a product called the gTar. What it is isn’t exactly clear and the official website isn’t revealing anything but a teaser video shows a guitar-shaped electronic device that has space what looks like a cellular phone. A YouTube post calls it “a consumer electronics device that enables an interactive music entertainment experience to anyone without any kind of previous musical knowledge.”
If the video shows what it appears to show, the gTar could be a very novel method of teaching a complete novice how to play a guitar in very short order. The frets on what looks to be a fully-stringed guitar appear to light up and could conceivably function as a teaching aid. Of course there are several other possible applications for the gTar so we’ll just have to wait and see.
