Just how menacing can a guy in a pink suit be? Based on Zoolander and, separately, the minds behind Far Cry 3, Ubisoft’s brilliant tropical open-world shooter that examined a mind’s descent into madness (with guns and hunting), the answer to that is probably ‘very’. Ubisoft have revealed the successor to 2012’s Far Cry 3 and they’ve just bumped the naming convention up a number while drastically altering the setting – Far Cry 4 will be set in Kyrat, a fictional location in the Himalayas so expect lots of snow and perhaps a yeti or two.

Ubi haven’t given out many details of the game beyond the setting, aside from the fact that players will be going up against a “despotic self-appointed king”. It’ll still be an open-world adventure, filled with wildlife, natural hazards and weaponry, that players can navigate at will but the exact nature of the world and threats will have to wait until this year’s E3 conference, where Ubisoft will be showing the world its first look at Far Cry 4.

Far Cry 4‘s executive product Dan Hay said “Following the success of Far Cry 3, we wanted to take the franchise to the next level and create a game that will surprise players and exceed fans’ expectations. Given the unique setting, we feel Far Cry 4 will stand out as a top first-person shooter and we’re eager to reveal more about the game in the coming months.”

We’ll have our eyes on Ubi’s E3 media briefing next month and give you all of the details as they appear. Far Cry 4 is slated for release on 18 November on pretty much every current platform (minus Nintendo’s roster).
