Scooters are no longer dinky vehicles you’re embarrassed to be seen on. Companies like BMW and others have seen to that. But Horwin, makers of the Senmenti 0, are possibly taking the recent upskill too far. First of all, it doesn’t look like a scooter. That’s fine, though. Nor does BMW’s CE 04. That’s… sort of the point. Vespas are for hipsters and Italians who really don’t care. Have you seen Rome’s streets? They’re basically essential. The Senmenti 0 isn’t just a looker, though. It does things scooters… aren’t supposed to do. The mental Senmenti 0 That’s because the Austrian/Chinese…

It’s perhaps appropriate that a Samsung smartphone that isn’t changing much in terms of design won’t make many changes when it comes to its announcement and launch. The Galaxy S23, which we’ve already seen more or less intact, will supposedly show its face in early February next year. That’s the world according to a Korean publication, which has a couple more beans to spill. The launch event will apparently take place in San Francisco in the first week of February. It’ll be closely followed by an international launch, on 17 February 2023. Educated guesses and the Galaxy S23 It’s not…

Load shedding is back. Again. It never really went away, despite the off weekend, but Eskom has returned the country to Stage 2. Again, this is nothing new. South Africa was supposed to suffer load shedding every day from 16:00 to 05:00. Now, though? It’s going on all day, baby. Stage 2 is a water level? #Stage2 load shedding will be implemented from 09:00 this morning until further notice. This is necessitated by a breakdown of a Duvha generating unit & a delay in returning to service another Duvha unit Eskom will provide a further update as soon as any…

Odds are that Twitter is on your mind right now, whether you wade into the Tweet Arena on the daily or not. That’s despite the fact that nothing has really changed (yet) unless you happen to work for the company (or used to). Still, we get it. Your idea of the social media platform has been shattered. Who even has the energy to write tweets anymore? With that in mind, why not turn the job over to an AI so you can go and be depressed while still maintaining your online presence? Set accounts to auto-tweet A platform called Tweet…

You know how folks sometimes send you voice or video files that you can’t watch right now? Because you’re in a meeting and you’ve got no idea what atrocity your friend group has just sent you? Telegram has just come up with a way to get around that, specifically for videos. And that’s because the company already solved that option for audio files. The most recent update to the app adds the ability to convert videos into text, so you can at least read a transcript before clicking ‘Play’. But there is a slight catch to this — you have…

Last year, Google made its Workspace productivity software free for everyone. At the same time, it launched Workspace Individual, an upgraded version of the suite designed to tempt you into giving the company money. Well, Workspace Individual is now a little more tempting. A recent update from Google is bringing new features to Workspace Individual. Chief among these is more cloud storage, with no corresponding price increase. Individual accounts used to include 15GB of space — the same as a regular old Gmail account. That’s just been upped to a solid 1TB of online storage. Google storage facility The point?…

Soon the International Space Station (ISS) will be the recipient of a brand new BFF. Instead of a wholesome relationship, a BFF in this instance is a BioFabrication Facility. Which sounds considerably larger than it actually is. NASA’s not sending a whole new factory up into space. It’s more of a compact bio-printer. It’s also not the first time it’s been up there. The ISS played host to the BioFabrication Facility in 2019 when it was used to print human heart cells and a substantial portion of a human knee’s meniscus. Now, it’s heading back up there. BFFs forever? The…

Huawei’s most recent smartphone launch was quite heavily signposted. The Pocket S, a successor to the P50 Pocket handset, is now official. As expected, it’s cheap. Surprisingly cheap, for a folding smartphone. Based on Chinese pricing (the only country where it’s official), there’s no cheaper folding smartphone anywhere else. If you were to opt for the 128GB version of the phone — you can’t, but if you could — it would set you back R15,000. Its official price is about CNY6,000, while the 256GB version costs CNY6,500 (R16,300). A later 512GB version will launch towards the end of the year…

After threatening to do so for several months, Netflix has finally dropped its ad-supported tier on the world. Well, some of the world. The new plan, called Basic with Ads, is available in the United States and ten other countries. Before you get excited, South Africa isn’t one of them. And that might be for the best. It doesn’t really seem like you’re getting the best deal by paying Netflix less money. The new bottom tier will set subscribers back just $6 (R110) per month. That’s… not all that far from South Africa’s basic pricing, which makes us a tiny…
