First it was thought to be on, then it was thought to be off, now it looks as though Apple’s September iPhone 6 announcement, plus whatever else they have in store (please be a smartwatch), will be taking place. Re/code reports that Apple has a media event set for 9 September, which is just over a month away. Nothing specific has been detailed about what the company will be showing the media but September is traditionally the time where the iPhone makes its presence known. And if it sees its shadow, it’ll be winter for another six weeks or something.…

Transformers fans will probably remember the amazing outings for the Autobots and Decepticons that have popped up in the past few years. We’re not talking about the licensed movie versions of the game, those things verge on blasphemy. Instead witness what was done with Transformers: War for Cybertron and Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, both of which managed to deliver fast-paced, varied (for a given value of varied) and exciting games that really seemed to fit into the Transformers universe. Picture that in your mind and picture it hard because there’s almost none of that to be found in Rise of…

Everybody wants to make a smartwatch and it’s only a matter of time before those that don’t have one join the likes of Pebble, LG, Samsung, Motorola and whoever else Google can muster in creating one (we’re looking at you, Apple). The newest entry in the I-have-a-smartwatch race is Hewlett-Packard, who are taking a far more expensive approach to the wearables trend by creating a luxury device as opposed to something that will cost less than a smartphone. The smartwatch, which is apparently going to be exclusive to an online retailer called Gilt, has been designed by American Michael Bastian.…

You know what would be awesome? If we could give voice replies to instant messaging through a smartwatch instead of having to haul out a smartphone and manually enter characters. You know what would be even more awesome? If it was already here. Well guess what? It is. Instant messaging service WhatsApp is adding support for Android Wear devices in the latest beta version of their app. Though WhatsApp has supported wearable devices in the past, the new update adds the ability to view stacked notifications, full previews of messages and the ability to reply to those messages using your…

Our dream technology consists of anything that does one thing and also makes coffee. Like a smartphone that makes coffee, a tablet that knows how to start brewing some morning juice, anything along those lines. Though it’s mostly a joke on our part, someone has come up with a working option for an alarm clock that wakes you up with a morning cup of joe. That’s a GOOD morning Called the Barisieur, this alarm clock wakes you up using the movement of ball-bearings to create noise. The nice part is that these ball-bearings help to boil the water for your…

This is Netgear’s Nighthawk AC1900 R700 Smart WiFi Router. That’s a pretty unwieldy name, so we’re glad that the company actually added the ‘Nighthawk’ in there because that’s what we’ve been calling it ever since we saw the full title – even if it does sound like a French Resistance call-sign from World War II (and its subsequent humorous sitcoms). It kind of looks like a Nighthawk though, all angular and speedy and like it hunts vermin in your home while you’re sleeping. While in flight. Okay, perhaps not the flight bit but it’s got a touch of Italian supercar…
