There have been whisperings and murmurings about a fabled folding Google Pixel device for years. Hints at the device were first seen in 2019 after the launch of Samsung’s Galaxy Fold and Huawei’s Mate X. Now, new information has come to light that suggests we could see a foldable from the search engine giant before the end of the year. A developer that goes by cstark27 spotted the folding Pixel’s codename, ‘Passport’, within the code of the Android 12 beta. This suggests that the foldable will be powered by the newly announced Google Tensor chips, like the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. https://twitter.com/Cstark_27/status/1425511232774283267…

Yesterday, Intel announced that it would be launching its new high-end consumer GPU lineup — that it’s calling Arc — to the market early next year. The new brand will encompass both the software behind the cards and the physical cards themselves. The chipmaker will be bringing the first of multiple generations to market in Q1 of 2022, codenamed ‘Alchemist’. Future generations under the codenames Battlemage, Celestial and Druid will follow. Intel vs AMD vs Nvidia Previously known as DG2, the Alchemist arc-based GPUs will come in both desktop and notebook flavours. It looks like Intel wants to bring the flight…
New details and some specs have snuck past the closed taps of Xiaomi and dripped into our news pool. Taken from the XiaomiUI Telegram group, the display, camera and chipset specs for the potentially upcoming Mi 11T and Redmi K40 Ultra were revealed. The Mi 11T, which was identified by its codename ‘Amber’ and model number K11R, looks like it’ll be equipped with a 120Hz display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. This would be a small downgrade from the 144Hz display of the Mi 10T but maybe that’s because Xiaomi will be using an OLEN panel instead of an LCD like…
Last night, we were treated to the latest marketing material for EA’s Battlefield 2042. If you weren’t already excited and didn’t already have the release (22 October) date circled on your calendar, this might be what you need. DICE has made it clear, from the initial announcement and every subsequent viewing, that players won’t be getting a single-player campaign this year. The company has instead chosen to focus on the multiplayer aspect and wants to give players a healthy selection for that. This will include the usual game modes we’ve seen in previous titles, to the all-new Battlefield Portal game mode that will let players customise…
According to a recent Kotaku report, three early Grand Theft Auto (GTA) games will be getting the remaster-treatment. We could even see them before the end of the year on pretty much every platform available, why leave out a potential revenue stream? This report follows rumours around the project showing up all over the internet on Reddit, Twitter and a few other message boards, including The Message Board That Shall Not Be Named. Almost as if it knew it was fuelling the rumour fires, Take-Two Interactive — parent company of Rockstar — went on a DMCA spree ordering the removal of GTA mods using…
MTN has revealed some insights into data usage in its interim financial results for the first half of 2021. According to the document, the average South African MTN prepaid subscriber uses more than 2GB of mobile data every month, while those on contract use over 10GB. The carrier stated that data was one of the top contributors to its growth in overall service revenue in the country. The company’s service revenue from South Africa rose by 9.3% in the first half of this year, from R17.61 billion in the first six months of 2020 to R19.25 billion in 2021. Data revenue…
A few weeks ago, we reported that evidence was found showing Android was working on a WhatsApp update to Google’s Data Migration Tool. It’s the tool that’s used by the setup wizard when switching to a new Android device. Although it was pretty clear this was a certainty, we hadn’t had any official confirmation… until last night. At Samsung’s Unpacked event, the company revealed its new range of foldable smartphones and the new Watch series, but it didn’t stop there. Samsung also showed off that users switching from iOS to Android, specifically its new Galaxy Z series phones, will be able to, almost…
Samsung’s Unpacked event has confirmed its next wearable, the Samsung Watch 4 series. Although this definitely does not come as a surprise thanks to the copious leaks beforehand (thanks Evan). The Samsung Watch 4 will come in two flavours: the Watch 4 and the Watch 4 Classic. Each of these will come in two sizes, 40mm/44mm for the former and 40mm/46mm for the latter. Both variants will feature either a 1.2in or 1.4in Super AMOLED, full-colour always-on display, protected by Gorilla Glass DX. These will be the first devices to feature the new OS that Samsung has been working on…
TikTok has recently surpassed, well, everything on the Google Play Store, Apple’s App Store and any other store you can think of to become the worlds most downloaded app of 2020 and 2021 so far. This milestone makes the app the fifth non-gaming app to cross the 3+ billion downloads, the others being WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and Facebook Messenger, which are all (obviously) Facebook-owned. TikTok by the numbers According to a report by Sensor Tower, the app doesn’t look like it’s slowing down any time soon. In the first half of 2020, the app saw 619 million first time installs and…
