We’ve been tracking Honor’s Robot Phone since the beginning of this year. Most recently, the gimbal camera’s details were revealed by the company itself. Now, almost everything else about the odd handset has also been revealed, thanks to a Chinese leaker.
Digital Chat Station has a decent track record of product details out of China, and their latest round of information gives out practically everything Honor’s unusual phone will feature. It’ll all be confirmed in a little over a week, but there’s no harm in having a decent idea of what’s coming.
Inside the Robot Phone
According to the leak, Honor’s Robot Phone will include a 6.3in 2,640 x 1,216 display with 6,800 nits of peak brightness. The screen is coated with an anti-reflective film, to boot. One of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipsets will power the thing. There’s no new information on RAM/storage, but previous hints suggest 12GB/512GB and 16GB/1TB variants are coming. Current pricing trends indicate that Honor’s gimbal smartphone… won’t be able to touch ‘affordable’ with a very long pole.
A 7,060mAh battery with 120W wired charging is also supposed to be part of the package. Honor is including a trio of in-house-developed chips for the phone. The Honor C1 handles RF signal boosting, while the E2 sorts out power regulation. The H1, previously seen in the camera leak, helps with image processing.
Along with the 200MP 1/1.28in f/1.6 gimbal camera and its 50MP ultra-wide and 200MP periscope telephoto backups, this combination should prove a powerful, capable phone. We’ll just have to see how durable that pop-out gimbal turns out to be after the 12 August announcement.
