A day before the official announcement of the Sennheiser Momentum 5, Japanese audio brand Acoustune announced a device that could pair perfectly with those headphones, seeing as they don’t come with their own dongle like the HDB 630.
Well, the ATX001, as it’s affectionately named, would pair well with any wireless headphones. Especially if you’re listening to them via an older source. The whole point of this dinky little dongle is to upgrade your ageing source’s wireless audio abilities.
Improve your source by adding some ATX001

There are a few things to note before you rush out to get one. For starters, your source will need to support audio over USB Type-A or Type-C. The obvious use case would be older smartphones and tablets that don’t natively support high-resolution wireless Bluetooth codecs.
The ATX001 uses the Qualcomm QCC5181 SoC, a chip specifically designed for use in low-power devices like true wireless earbuds or a dongle like this. This is what makes it possible to give devices that didn’t previously support aptX Lossless (up to 1.2 Mbps) or LDAC (up to 990kbps). Your headphones or earbuds will still need to support those codecs, however, and you also need to install the ANIMA Studio smartphone app to use the dongle.
Secondly, they aren’t technically available just yet. The Japanese company will be taking pre-orders from Friday, 29 May, and it will be released on 5 June.
The last important bit of info is that it won’t be officially available in South Africa. You’ll need to acquaint yourself with Aramex’s global shopper if you’re itching to get one of these. That will obviously influence how much you’ll have to pay. They go for 13,600 yen in Japan, which works out to about R1,400.
