If you missed out on watching some of 2025’s best films — Sinners and Bugonia chief among them — in the theatre, Ster-Kinekor will let you correct that. Back by popular demand, the theatre chain has revived the ‘Oscar Buzz’ promotion that’ll see a handful of the ‘best’ films of 2025 return to cinemas this March.
Bring War of the Worlds to the big screen, cowards

While that’s cool enough on its own, Ster-Kinekor will only charge R100 a ticket — regardless of whether the film is screened in regular 2D or the bombastic IMAX. That R100 will also cover a small popcorn and a 500ml drink of your choice. It looks to be a pretty stellar deal, especially considering a full-price IMAX ticket usually sets you back R240 per. Screenings will officially kick off on 6 March and come to an end on 19 March 2026.
The films on the ‘Oscar Buzz’ list are:
- Marty Supreme (2D & IMAX)
- Bugonia (2D only)
- Sinners (2D & IMAX)
- One Battle After Another (2D & IMAX)
- F1 (2D & IMAX)
- Hamnet (2D only)
All six films will first be screened in 2D. IMAX screenings for the applicable movies will only begin on Friday, 13 March, so plan accordingly. Unfortunately, the promotion does not apply to Ster-Kinekor’s cinemas located in Zimbabwe, Namibia (Maerua, The Grove) and Zambia (Manda Hill). It’s reserved for the chain’s South African theatres — you can see all the available cinemas in the Oscar Buzz Ts and Cs here.
Customers can already begin booking their tickets for all six films by heading to the Ster Kinekor website and navigating to the ‘Coming Soon’ tab.
