It’s been a busy weekend at WABetaInfo. Not only did it point out that spoiler tags were coming to Meta’s WhatsApp Messenger, but it also stated that the company would finally deliver message scheduling to the app. It’s about time. Telegram users have flaunted the feature for quite some time. Now, it’s WhatsApp’s turn.
Arriving in….
The feature, labelled ‘Scheduled Messages’, was unearthed inside the WhatsApp beta for iOS 26.7.10.72 update. Users can type up a reply like normal, but only send it hours or even days later to the lucky correspondent. The feature is intended to function with individual chats as well as group chats, and covers image and video messages.
Once a message is scheduled, the user can see all their scheduled messages relating to that specific contact by visiting their profile, as seen in the image above. Messages — or their send time and date — can be edited before the message leaves the station. If it sends, the user will have to make do with the usual editing rules.
Scheduled Messages isn’t exactly a revelation to iOS users, who could implement a similar workaround by using the Shortcuts app on their iPhones. But for the average Android user, it could be a serious boon. That’s assuming it ever sees the light of day. With no official word on a release from Meta, there’s always the possibility of the feature being shelved for good. Let’s hope this isn’t one of those beta tests.
