DStv is slowly coming to realise that treating your customers right might actually equal more customers and eventually, more money. Or at least, Canal+, the new owners of MultiChoice, seem like it’s coming to realise it. The pay-TV broadcaster just announced that it was adding four free pop-up channels to celebrate the holidays.
That’s on top of the broadcaster ‘upsizing‘ customers throughout Christmas, slashing decoder costs, and opening up DStv Premium to all decoder customers for a weekend.
“… As families reunite over the festive season, DStv is coming to the party – and since we never arrive empty-handed, we’re bringing a feast of four pop-up channels that celebrate the watch-together spirit.”
More of that, please, DStv
We didn’t say they’d all be winners. Up first is ‘The Holiday Channel’, which you’ll find on channel 198 from now until 3 January 2026. If you’re interested in seeing a curated selection of “family-friendly gospel music videos, prayer and praise events, and films that navigate faith in an African context,” then that’s where you’ll find it.
Next in the queue is ‘DStv 30’, which the broadcaster calls “nostalgia in overload mode.” It’ll bring back the classics like *checks notes* the best Carte Blanche episodes, early premieres of Our Perfect Wedding, and even M-Net’s own on-location soapie, The Wild. DStv 30 opens up on 1 December and runs until 21 January 2026 on channel 197.

fliekNet, which lands on 12 December and runs until 21 January 2026 on channel 149, is the only of the four pop-up channels that are only available to DStv Compact and up subscribers. The channel’s return will bring along the likes of Noise & Neighbours, which recently won an award at the Chelsea Film Festival.
Finally, SuperSport’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) broadcast will actually get two channels to cover all the content: channels 202 and 222. It’ll kick off three days before the tournament does, on 18 December 2025. South Africa will get into the swing of things with a first match-up against Angola on 22 December at 19h00 SAST.
