PlayStation fans are eating well this October. Not only did PS Plus Essential subscribers just get access to Alan Wake 2 for as long as their sub is active, a leak from Billbil-kun (via Dealabs) reckons subscribers to the middle-of-the-road tier, PS Plus Extra, will soon get their hands on Konami and Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake.
King of the Silent Hill
If the rumours are to be believed, and given Billbil-kun’s track record, it’s safe to get your hopes up a little that the game will hit the PS Plus Extra catalogue of games on 21 October 2025. There’s no telling how long it will stick around — the Extra catalogue is constantly shifting — but we can guess it’ll be around for a few months at least.
That certainly beats buying it outright. Silent Hill 2 currently costs R1,300 on the PlayStation Store — which may be a little too steep for newbies who aren’t yet sure if they vibe with the game’s mechanics. PS Plus Extra only costs R210 for a month’s access (and R1,870 for a year) — plenty of time to get that platinum trophy.

There’s also talk of a DLC coming to the game, likely tying into the Return to Silent Hill film in 2026 that’s centred around Silent Hill 2. That’s according to leaker Dusk Golem in a post on X (@AestheticGamer1). Sticking the game onto PS Plus would be an easy way to drum up hype and get customers in a DLC-buying mood.
While the Silent Hill 2 remake is a PS5 console exclusive and also available on PC, it’s rumoured that the game is headed to Xbox shortly, too, and perhaps even the Nintendo Switch 2. The Silent Hill 2 remake dropped a year ago today, which likely means that the console exclusivity deal Sony signed is up. Fingers crossed.
