With PlayStation’s most recent State of Play out of the way, we finally have a rough idea of what will grace PS5 consoles (and others) over the coming weeks and months. If you happened to miss the 23h00 showing last night, fear not, because we’ve got you covered on all the biggest reveals and announcements, including a long-awaited look at Insomniac’s Wolverine.
Saros
Kicking off the State of Play was a five-minute-long in-depth look at Saros, a spiritual successor to Housemarque’s Returnal that takes the third-person shooter roguelike elements and amps it all the way up to eleven. There’s a new world to immerse yourself in — the shape-shifting planet of Carcosa — with Housemarque promising an evolved and bombastic combat system, all running at a smooth 60fps on the PS5.
Saros arrives on PS5 on 20 March 2026.
MS Flight Simulator
As if you needed any more proof that the console wars are well and truly over, the arrival of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 (emphasis on Microsoft) should do the trick. PlayStation gamers have begged for Microsoft’s ultra-realistic take on the world to come to the PS5 for years, and their prayers have finally been answered. With a massive fleet to choose from, Flight Simulator 2024 can help you live out your aviation fantasy.
Microsoft Flight Simulator arrives on PS5 on 8 December 2025. A free PSVR 2 update will be available in 2026.
Battlefield 6
There’s a good chance you’ve already sunk a good couple of hours into the Battlefield 6 beta (you’re not special), but EA has remained surprisingly quiet about the game’s single player campaign — until now. Players will step into the shoes of several Dagger 13 operatives, “an elite Marine Raiders unit determined to stop Pax Armata, a private military corporation seeking to reshape global power as NATO teeters on the edge of collapse.”
Battlefield 6 arrives on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on 10 October 2025.
Deus Ex Remastered
While many might have hoped for a proper remake of the original cyberpunk sim, they’ll have to make do with an admittedly extensive overhaul of the original’s graphics. Aspyr returns on the PS5 in what promises to introduce new lighting, dynamic shadows, character models, and the control scheme from more modern Deus Ex games, like Human Revolution and Mankind Divided.
Deus Ex Remastered arrives on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC on 5 February 2026.
Halloween
Step back into the 70s and the small town of Haddonfield, where players don the mask of Michael Myers in Halloween. We got our first taste of gameplay from the iconic reimagining of one of cinema’s most haunting characters, though the disclaimer “final gameplay footage not represented” doesn’t fill us with confidence. Still, with what looks like a Friday the 13th remake with a Michael Myers coat of paint, we can’t see Halloween letting us down.
Halloween arrives on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on 8 September 2026.
Nioh 3
So the leaks were true. Ignore all the terrible English dubbing in Team Ninja’s Nioh 3 trailer, and cast your eyes upon what promises to be the series’ most expansive action RPG yet, with a deeper look at the characters and some silky smooth, high-stakes samurai gameplay. But seriously — go and give that Japanese trailer a shot.
Nioh 3 arrives on PS5 and PC on 6 February 2026.
Pulse Elevate
It wasn’t just about the games at State of Play. Sony took the opportunity to unveil the next product in its audio line-up, known as the Pulse Elevate. Rather than a pair of in- or over-ears, the Pulse Elevate takes the form of portable desktop speakers, though these will work on your PS5, PS Portal, PC, or Mac devices. The speakers use a charging stand when shackled to your desk, though Sony danced around just how big the battery is.
Available in black or white, the Pulse Elevate does its best to convince you that its likely high price will be worth it by the time it launches sometime in 2026. It features Bluetooth as well as Sony’s proprietary PlayStation Link technology for lag-free gaming. There’s no telling how they sound, but Sony promises each speaker uses “studio-inspired” planar magnetic drivers that help deliver 3D audio on certain games. Oh, and it’s got a built-in mic.
We were even less thrilled by Sony’s next bit of hardware — a DualSense PS5 controller commemorating God of War‘s twentieth anniversary. While some of our favourite DualSense designs are those paying homage to a single title, this just isn’t it. With a singular red streak running down the right-hand side of an otherwise all-white controller, Sony is just testing the water to see how much it can get away with at this point. A lot, apparently.
Alan Wake 2 headlines October PS Plus line-up
Arguably more exciting than any of the reveals or announcements for upcoming games, the news that Remedy’s Alan Wake 2 — a Game of the Year contender — would headline October’s PlayStation Plus Essential tier got us feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. We’re guessing the same won’t go for anyone who just spent their cold-hard cash on the second Alan Wake adventure. Please note that your sacrifice is appreciated, gamers.
Joining the line-up is Cocoon, a puzzling adventure game that sees you play as a beetle hopping between worlds willy-nilly. Also on the menu is Goat Simulator 3, which, if you haven’t delved into the franchise, offers up wacky physics as you jetpack around as a goat. We’re also looking forward to seeing Tekken 3, Soulcalibur III, and Tomb Raider Anniversary arrive on the PS Plus Deluxe tier.
Marvel’s Wolverine
Finally, showing off gameplay after spending years in the oven, Insomniac appears to have cracked the Marvel single-player superhero formula, showing off an even more gruesome take on one of Marvel’s most violent heroes, Wolverine, which lends itself perfectly to a proper action-adventure. There’s still no release date other than a vague nod at Fall 2026 (Spring 2026 for us Saffas) and some rather fluid combos.
