Plugging in a single HDMI cable is more than enough effort to be showered with praise from the rest of the family. But you can’t always be there to sort out whatever issue arises when the old folks want to watch The Bold and the Beautiful, can you? LG’s got a novel idea it’s calling the Easy TV.
Specifically targeting elders, the LG Easy TV does away with all the complicated features found on modern TVs and strips them back to the basics. The remote has been redesigned, too, featuring a much larger font and a dedicated ‘Help’ button that can be used to contact family members in an emergency, or simply to switch back in case grandpa changes sources. Even so, it might still be too big. Did it really need that many buttons?
LG’s having a senior moment
LG just couldn’t resist throwing an AI button into the mix to complement the AI features the TV brings to the table that almost certainly didn’t need to be there. Still, any elders with their finger on the pulse might appreciate being able to call up an AI assistant to help them sort out any issues. What was the point of this TV again?
The TV itself at least offers a more simplified homepage layout and a larger font, and only the essential apps. It’s still up to LG to determine what those are, so don’t be surprised if it doesn’t match your idea of basic. The default settings include increased brightness from the get-go and a bigger emphasis on isolating voices on TV.

There’s also a built-in camera meant to make reaching loved ones via video calls easier. And if you’re worried about the old fogeys getting distracted by their new TV, it can be programmed to offer simple pop-up reminders. That can range from “take your meds” to “Janet is picking you up at 2PM today.”
Launching first in South Korea, the LG Easy TV bears a remarkable resemblance to the LG QNED Evo QNED85A Mini LED 4K, which it’s based on. The company has plans to bring the TV to other markets, though what those are and when we can expect them has yet to be revealed. It’ll be available in 65in and 75in versions for 2,769,000 won and 3,869,000 won, respectively. That’s roughly R48,000 if you’re after the 75 model.
