In case you weren’t aware, Flysafair has a WhatsApp Business Account. Perhaps your first thought is; why? Well, the account lets one tackle several different tasks. It sends boarding passes after check-in or lets you get in touch with a real-life customer service agent. But its most useful feature allows check-in directly on the messenger, no queueing needed.
The point is to simplify the process, giving users with little to no signal a better way to access these features.
“Where internet access proves to be less reliable, passengers can bypass the website and app to easily search their flight details and check-in via WhatsApp, ensuring complete peace of mind before arriving at the airport.”
Here’s how to do it
First, you need to add the Flysafair contact number to your phone – 087 357 0030. Open the chat, and send a simple ‘Hi’. You’ll be greeted by a list of options;
- My Bookings
- Check In
- Flight Status
- Other Flight Information
- Help
Also included are two links, one directing passengers to a help page and another to the company’s YouTube channel. Don’t forget to like, comment and subscribe!
Punch a straightforward ‘2’ into the chat and hit send. You’re sent a notice mentioning that “you can only check in 24 hours before departure”. Below is another list asking how you would like to check-in. Your options are Booking Reference, ID Number or Passport Number. Enter your identification of choice, and you’re all checked in.

Over the coming weeks, we’ll see more features added to the account. These include options to add bags to existing bookings and buy food vouchers via WhatsApp. There’s no official launch date for these features, though we know it won’t be long before they turn up.
