DisChem customers are in for a little extra convenience (that doesn’t involve actually talking to humans). The popular pharmacy has partnered with a company called Clickatell, a chat commerce specialist. This partnership sees DisChem using WhatsApp as a hub for customers to engage with the pharmacy.
It’s also quite simple to do. Just send a message saying ‘Hi’ to 0860 347 243. That’s it. When you do so, you’ll be greeted with a menu that lets you select the service you require from DisChem.
The menu contains 5 main options:
- Benefit Programme
- PackMyMeds (PMM)
- Store Information
- Clinics
- FAQs
When using this menu, users can sign up for the PackMyMeds program, get benefit cards, check and update existing personal information, report lost cards, and find the closest DisChem.
Maybe the most useful of all the features is the PackMyMeds program, which alerts customers on the program when their medicine is ready for collection.
But why WhatsApp? Well, besides helping DisChem be more organized, it should lessen the number of mistakes that can occur when speaking over the phone. This way, confusion is avoided as both the customer and DisChem have a record on respective phones. Or wherever DisChem keeps its records.
“Consumers have shown they prefer to use chat channels, and WhatsApp in particular, to engage with each other and with their favourite brands,” said Werner Lindemann, Clickatell commercial senior vice president.
DisChem’s Lynne Blignaut added, “Delivering the WhatsApp channel to our customers resolves an immediate customer experience need, adds to our ability to continue to deliver superior convenience, and gives us an excellent opportunity to expand our digital offering in the future.”
This hopefully means more businesses will eventually make the move to putting their services on WhatsApp. Or another massively popular messaging platform. That’d be fine too.
