Sony’s latest gaming monitor, the Inzone M10S II, has launched in most of the Northern Hemisphere. As you can probably deduce from the name, it’s the second iteration of Sony’s esports-focused OLED gaming monitor, with an upgraded RGB Tandem WOLED panel (presumably from LG Display).
While it is currently available elsewhere, it will probably take a few more days (or weeks) to reach South Africa. But it is already listed on Sony’s local site, so it shouldn’t be long. When it eventually does land, don’t expect it to be cheap. Its US launch price of $1,100 works out to roughly R18,150 before accounting for shipping and import fees.
Sony ticks all the boxes
There’s a good reason for that seemingly exorbitant price: Sony is ticking a lot of boxes. The Inzone M10S II features the same 27in size and 2,560 x 1,440px resolution as its predecessor, while the new Tandem WOLED panel pushes the claimed peak brightness to 1,500 nits. It also sports a “super anti-glare film” which might dull its poppy OLED colours but will make short work of reflections.
Higher OLED brightness is always welcome, but the bigger upgrade is to the refresh rate. This panel has a native refresh rate of 540Hz, but can be boosted to 720Hz by lowering the resolution to 720p with Sony’s Dynamic Frequency and Resolution (DFR) mode. The dedicated 24.5in mode sticks around if you don’t want to use your entire screen, for some reason.
Rounding out the specs, VRR Anti-flicker technology, Motion Blur Reduction, and Dynamic Crosshair are present. It features plenty of ports, including DisplayPort 2.1, HDMI 2.1, a couple of USB-A ports, and a headphone jack.
