Sennheiser’s Momentum range looks set to welcome two new models before long. Regulatory images of the still-unofficial Momentum 5 headphones and Momentum True Wireless 5 earbuds are doing the rounds online, thanks to leaky pipes at the FCC in the US.
While the images are a little grainy, the headphones and earbuds look pretty much good to go. That probably means an official announcement isn’t too far away. It could be weeks, it could be months. But at least we know they’re coming.
Now that’s real Momentum
Unsurprisingly, the new Momentum 5 looks very similar to Senny’s previous cans. The excellent HDB 630 followed the same path. If it ain’t broke, and all that. That said, if you squint a bit, you can see a slight difference around the metal yoke that connects the headband and earcups. A single physical button is visible on the left earcup near what we assume are LED indicator lights, a silver microphone cover, and the USB-C port.
The Momentum True Wireless 5 (MTW5) has had a few more design changes from the previous model. The fabric-covered cradle is out, and a new one, which looks to be made of fairly standard hard plastic, takes its place. The earbuds, too, have undergone visual changes. They keep the Sennheiser logo but feature a more compact, rounder housing.

As for when we’ll see them, that is still to be confirmed. There’s been mention of a 20 August release, but that hasn’t been verified. Nor has the price. We expect them to come in around what the Momentum 4 launched at — $350, or around R6,500. But we wouldn’t be surprised to see that increase due to, well, everything else becoming more expensive.
