As fun as Mario Kart World was when it launched as Nintendo’s sole title for the Switch 2, that shine rubbed off faster than we or anyone would’ve liked. We can say for a fact that a steering wheel accessory would pull us right back in. Fortunately, Hori has done just that. Twice. Enter the Hori Mario Kart Racing Wheel Pro Deluxe.
Hori doesn’t reinvent the wheel
The Deluxe model is the one you want, packing an 11in racing wheel with a bunch of buttons on the front. A set of pedals is also involved. The Hori Mario Kart Racing Wheel Pro Mini, as it’s called, swaps the 11in wheel for a 6.8-inch wheel with its own set of dual pedals, perfect for the kiddo in your life. Don’t touch daddy’s Deluxe wheel, in other words.
If you aren’t familiar with Hori, this is your opportunity. Both wheels are fully licensed by Nintendo, evidenced by the big Mario M sitting smack dab in the middle of the wheels. It’s got a 270-degree turn radius and seven levels of sensitivity, something Hori’s previous attempts couldn’t pull off. It’s a fifty-fifty mixture of red and black paint on the Deluxe, so it should go in just about any lounge. Until it’s moved out by a neat-freak spouse, anyway.

The Mini goes for more of a Mario theme, covered in red, blue, and white colours. A similar array of buttons adorns the 8.6in face, which shares the same nearly 300cm-long USB-A cable as the Deluxe.
Unfortunately, the Mini hasn’t surfaced in South Africa just yet. It can be picked up overseas for $80 (∼R1,350). The Deluxe is a little luckier and can already be purchased from Nintendo’s local store. It’s not exactly cheap at R2,500, but we’d take anything that could reignite that Mario Kart passion, even for a moment.
