Chinese robotics companies are everywhere, some doing well, others… less so. It makes sense that other Chinese companies, like Honor, might want in on the mechanical action. That’s exactly what’s happening at Mobile World Congress this year, claims a report from Bloomberg.
A brief teaser from Honor itself makes the reveal more obvious. The Chinese mobile specialists will unveil their first humanoid robot at MWC 2026. Detail is obviously close under wraps, though if you’re paying close attention to the video below, you’ll see hints of what’s coming.
Robotic Honor
One of those hints is the ‘bot’s faceplate and upper torso, because there’s no point in building hype around new tech unless there’s some idea of how it looks. We can’t all be H.P Lovecraft, after all. But glimpses of the robot’s feet, a model showing off its hand articulation, and a design sketch in the background of one of the shots are enough for a more detailed mental composite.
It doesn’t look dissimilar to Unitree’s hardware, though it’ll perhaps be a more compact unit. It’ll likely have a decent weight limit, since Bloomberg suggests that it’ll handle service tasks instead of being a household helper. Honor could be exploiting low-skill jobs in grocery stores and similar locations, with its unnamed robot acting as an assistant. Fetch this, carry that, and so on.
If so, we expect more than a few to be loaded into car boots by opportunists in the parking lot. That’s why it’ll probably have some form of location tracking built in. Of course, if the mechanical man can escape, it can just run back to its place of employment before pointing the cops back the way it came. Perhaps don’t steal one when it’s just trying to help load your eggs into the boot, yeah?
MWC 2026 kicks off on 2 March, so there isn’t much time to wait to see what Honor actually has planned. As long as it stays on its feet, the robotic humanoid should have a decent reception.
