Fitness brand Reebok has debuted two new fitness wearables. Technically classified as smartwatches, the company’s new Stride and Rush devices are intended to improve fitness. While also bulking up the company’s bottom line, of course.
Before you get too excited, the devices are only announced for the US at present. Still, we’d be interested to see what they can do in a South African context. The Stride is the more premium of the pair, while the Rush is designed as a affordable option.

Both wearables fall under the ‘affordable’ banner, however. The Reebok Stride’s $100 pricing (R1,600) and the Rush’s $70 (R1,200) would, even with taxes added, make them attractive options. Both arrive encased with durable-looking plastic bands and frames. Both also sport AMOLED screens, though they differ in size. Oh, and a ten-day battery is also a common feature.
The Stride has a 1.43in 466 x 466 AMOLED. The Rush calls a 1.39 360 x 360 AMOLED its own. Both feature similar software, with more than 80 workout types being tracked. Both are also IP68 rated, so they should survive the gym, track, shower, pool, and probably the sauna. Unless you’re Laird Hamilton.
Heart rate, blood oxygen levels, and sleep are all tracked metrics. Both wrist assistants borrow GPS functions from connected mobile devices for location tracking. Notification functions, as with most any smartwatch, are also part of the package. The Stride and Rush integrate with the more popular fitness platforms, including Strava, Google Health, and Apple Health. The former also supports Bluetooth calling on the device, something the Rush’s lack of an internal speaker and mic prevents.
But, as you might expect, Reebok only seems to have plans for an American launch for now. They’ll join the company’s previously released Pulse and Icon devices in the gym.
