We’ve seen smart watches and smart rings. Rogbid, a Chinese company, has combined both of those things into a single device with its Fusion. Aptly named, the smartringwatch-thing will set buyers back R800 (shipping and taxes not included).
For your money, you’re getting one of those little ring watches — even Casio makes a few of those — but instead of an LCD or analogue face, you’ll have a somewhat smarter screen on your chosen digit. A digital digit display, if you will.
Fusion, ha!
There’s actual tech inside the Rogbid Fusion, though it’s very, very tiny. There’s a 0.49in OLED touch display parked in the middle of a Milanese band that will, in theory, fit any finger you choose. The interior of the smart device contains an accelerometer, a heart-rate sensor, and even an SpO2 sensor. The display and its attendant tech are rated for five atmospheres (5ATM), so you should be able to take it swimming.
Rogbid reckons that the Fusion will last up to five days on a charge, an impressive feat if true, and a full charge should take an hour to complete. Sleep tracking (we’ve got no idea how accurate that might be) and other reminder features are built in, but a display of this size will likely rely heavily on the accompanying app for context.
There’s also a software feature for couples included called Love Space (get your mind out of the gutter) that partners — each wearing a Fusion ring/watch — “swap love codes, unlock couple certificates, mark anniversaries, sync walks, and set sweet reminders.” Cool, if you’re into that.
And for anyone who doesn’t like the idea of putting one of Rogbid’s teeny displays on their finger, the Fusion also ships with a swappable wrist strap so you can wear your 12mm OLED tracker the same way a normal person does.
