Samsung’s Galaxy XR headset might be the new kid on the block, but rumours are already flying around for the South Korean outfit’s next bit of wearable kit — the supposed ‘Galaxy Glasses’. Following in the footsteps of the headset, the Glasses are meant to offer a more lightweight XR experience — mimicking the likes of Meta’s Ray-Ban glasses.
Speccy enough for you?

According to Dutch outlet GalaxyClub (via GSMArena), the device even has a model number now — SM-O200P. It’s that “O” that confirms we’re talking about a proper pair of specs here, and not just a Galaxy XR headset sequel, whose model number features an “I” in place of the “O”. Earlier rumours point to Samsung first releasing a pair without a display in 2026, before releasing a more capable pair in 2027 with a screen.
All signs point to that still being the case. The first pair, it seems, will feature Transitions lenses, meaning they’ll darken when faced with sunshine, and clear up in the shade or indoors. It’s still unclear whether the company will simply yoink the idea for themselves, or borrow the actual Transitions lenses from EssilorLuxottica, which currently ply Ray-Ban’s glasses with the tech.

It’ll be joined by all the regular smart glasses gimmes we take for granted these days. A camera, for making the folks in public feel uncomfortable, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth capabilities. Where Samsung might edge Meta is by adding mobile data into the mix, though hopefully as a separate model to keep costs flexible for users.
Seeing as Samsung has already registered the ‘Galaxy Glasses’ name, it’s pretty clear that we’ll see the company’s Meta Ray-Ban competitors sooner rather than later. What they’ll cost when that happens, however, is still up for debate, as is the launch strategy the company is going for. It seems certain these are headed for the US, but whether they’ll make it to SA is unknown for now.
