It’s practically a crime these days to release a device that isn’t propping up the AI industry in some way. As a law-abiding company, Acer has officially launched the Extensa O14-71 laptop, a no-nonsense business-focused machine that’s hoping it can be your go-to Excel-crunching machine.

Business in the front, business in the back
Acer’s kept portability in mind, helping you keep up to date on the emails even after the clock has signalled home time. At 1.47kg, it should slot right into a backpack without much hassle, coated in metal to prove it’s serious about business. Lifting the lid, you’ll find a 14in 16:10 IPS display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200, coupled with a 2MP webcam to ensure you never miss out on that dreaded Zoom or Teams meeting.
It’s not strapped for ports, either. It features dual USB-C and USB-A ports, with a single HDMI (2.1) to back them up. Acer’s still being coy about the exact battery specs you can expect here, with only a vague promise of all-day battery life, or around 9.5 hours on a single charge. We’ll believe it when we see it.

Underneath it all lies the Intel Core Ultra 5 125H — at least that’s what you can expect if you’re picking one up from FirstShop. Acer reckons the device can support up to Intel’s Core Ultra 7 155H, though we haven’t managed to find one locally just yet. The same goes for the physical memory — Acer promises up to 32GB DDR5 RAM, though the local listing locks users in at 16GB.
The new Acer Extensa O14-71, sporting an Intel Core Ultra 5, 16GB DDR5 memory, and 512GB NVMe SSD storage, can be picked up for R17,900 through FirstShop. More capable configurations will run you a couple thousand bucks higher — assuming you can find any locally.
