Another day, another Kindle leak. This time, it’s coming from a disgruntled former Amazon associate who’s looking to get back at our retail overlords by leaking Amazon’s alleged next ereader — the Kindle Petit Color.
The supposed leak appeared on a now-deleted Reddit post from a Portuguese user that revealed the next Kindle’s name, shared images of the device, and wrote: “a amazon quebrou a parte deles do contrato, então vim quebrar a minha,” roughly translating to “Amazon broke their part of the contract, so I came to break mine.”
Adding kindling to the fire

Unfortunately, the post’s contents and images disappeared not long after it was made, leaving only the title behind. Fortunately, not before Android Authority got a good look at the post, revealing even the planned release date, and a couple of images giving us a clear look at a prototype of the new device.
The Petit Color, as it’s called, is reportedly launching as soon as November 2025, and bears a resemblance to a Kindle Basic, except that this one flaunts a Kaleido 3 colour e-Ink display. The leaker reckons it can apply “progressive color” to both text and interface, shifting between four hues as you read.

It’s also got the ability to adjust the saturation, thus ending up with far more vibrant results than Amazon’s last colour Kindle efforts. While the prototype apparently doesn’t feature a backlight, the final retail model will. The device will launch in black and white colourways, but with detachable bezels to add a pop of colour later. These range from Green Leaf, Deep Purple, Chromatic Grey, and a “Mermaid” hue (pink and teal).
It’s expected to be slightly smaller than the 11th-gen Kindle (6in) and be cheaper than the Colorsoft. The leaker also hinted at another ereader in the Amazon pipeline — a larger “Kindle Carta Color” that uses an almost A4-sized display, though they couldn’t offer more information, stating they weren’t involved in the project.
