One of the most iconic consoles, well, ever, is undoubtedly the Nintendo Game Boy. Just waiting for a passing streetlight on the drive home so you could advance just a little bit further on the path to saving Peach, or waking up the Windfish. And now it’s back in 2025, except this time you’ll be putting it together, brick by brick. Lego, folks.
It’s in the Game Boy
It’s not that we’re surprised to see Nintendo stepping up its Lego game recently — frankly, we’re surprised it took this long to get a Lego Game Boy in brick form — but because the Danish brick company is only charging $60 (∼R1,000) for the admittedly small 421-piece set. It’s yet to turn up locally on Great Yellow Brick, but we’ll be keeping an eye open for the price it carries when it launches sometime in October.
You might turn your nose up at the only 421 pieces this set includes, but we prefer it this way. Not only does it do wonders for the price (even if it does still cross the four-digit mark), but this set is a near replica of the original console, size and all. We’ll take a 1:1 scale replica over a larger, more grandiose set any day. It even includes two “brick-built” Game Paks that fit into the rear slot — Link’s Awakening and Super Mario Land 2.

Of course, unless you’ve got a real Game Boy lying around somewhere, you’ll need to make do with just looking at your new copies of Link’s Awakening and Super Mario Land 2. Sticking it into the back obviously won’t do anything, but Nintendo prepared for that, including two screens to display one of the two games on the screen.
As for the handheld console itself, it’s got everything you remember about it, rendered in miniature. That, of course, means the D-Pad, A and B Buttons, Select and Start buttons, and even the adjustment and volume controls. We’re not entirely sure why the US pre-order page lists the product as 18+, other than as a cruel way for Nintendo to remind us just how old we are.
