It wasn’t that long ago that Huawei launched its new Pura 80 series globally. That launch was held in Dubai following the range’s launch in China in June. Eager South Africans won’t have to wait too much longer to get their hands on one of the three devices heading our way, with a local launch set for 7 August.
That’s only a few weeks away, so Huawei SA has opened up pre-orders for the Pura 80 series locally. Here’s what the 80, 80 Pro, and 80 Ultra will cost locally and what you’ll get for paying early.
Pura 80 is on the wei
While Huawei launched four handsets in China in June, the Pura 80 Pro+ is a China-exclusive device. Only the three models that launched in Dubai a few weeks ago will arrive on SA shores. Available now from Huawei’s online store and a few retailers, pre-orders for the Pura 80 series are:
- Pura 80 base 12GB/256GB — R20,000
- Pura 80 Pro 12GB/512GB — R25,000
- Pura 80 Ultra 16GB/512GB — R40,000
As usual with Huawei pre-orders, you aren’t just getting your handset if you drop your bag early. Pre-ordering the Pura 80 Pro or Ultra will also net you a R3,000 voucher to spend on other Huawei tech, another smartphone in the form of the Huawei Y72S, and a Huawei mystery box, which could net you a third device – the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design.

Chances are probably higher that you’ll find a pair of Huawei Freeclip earbuds or phone case, however. Pre-orders also feature Huawei Care +.
Huawei’s online store states that pre-orders are “expected to ship before 2025-08-01”, although that would mean some people get their devices before they’re officially launched in the country. If you’re okay with that, there’s nothing stopping you… except maybe your bank balance.
