When I discovered a friend’s daughter had nicked the power bank I recently gave her, I thought I might just buy her daughter her own. The one I had given my friend (let’s call her Rider) was a particularly good one, which I thought she deserved because she’s always (reluctantly) giving her daughters her power bank. It may be her own fault for having four daughters, you might argue, but I doubt you’d say that in front of her.
Besides, by virtue of what I do, people are always asking me for things like power banks.
As it happens, the internet had the answer for what I was looking for.
*wink winx*
The clever little WINX GO Simple 10,000mAh power bank costs just R150. So, I bought 10. Usually R200, I bought them last Friday for R160. Then it occurred to me that a nice USB-C power bank is fairly useless without a USB-C charger and a cable to go with it, so I found a 20W charger with a cable for R103. I bought another 10.
Everybody deserves a decent power bank and charger. It’s the simplest of enablers for our mobile internet-driven world. A smartphone is a glorious gateway to the riches of human knowledge and communication (although sadly also housing misinformation and endless scams). But without power, it’s just an expensive slab of glass-covered electronics.
For just R253 per person, Stuff is having its own Christmas in July for the folk who’ve asked us. Plus, I got Rider’s pesky daughters their own power banks.
